about

Having recently signed to AnalogueTrash, Circuit3 (Dublin’s Peter Fitzpatrick) announces Technology For The Youth - his third album, which will be entering our orbit this summer. On his new single Future Radio and its accompanying video, Peter gives us an initial taste of the LP, whetting our appetites and showcasing Circuit3’s distinctive blend of retro-futurist pop music.

Technology For The Youth arrives like a fragment of an abandoned space station that was all but destroyed as it re-entered Earth’s atmosphere. It evokes images of different times and different ambitions - the space race, moon shots, heroic achievements in the name of science, and unlikely Cold War collaborations between the United States and Russia.

It is an album that oscillates softly between hope and the limitless possibilities that fired up the imagination of the young Peter as he watched the Apollo launches on his family’s television.

Speaking about Future Radio itself, Peter says: “Future Radio is the pop art pirate radio space travel dream sequence in the movie of my life. As a kid, if I wasn't building an Airfix Apollo Rocket, I was searching for new pirate radio stations on my transistor radio.

“Every Circuit3 album features a track co-written with Brian McCloskey, better known to many as the curator of the Smash Hits archive Like Punk Never Happened. From California, he sent me lyrics, and I could see the video unfold as the song was written.

“It's a boy's adventure tale, drifting off to sleep to the sound of pirate radio signals ebbing and flowing into my dreams. Feel good synthpop bolstered by production assistance from Wolfgang Fleur collaborator iEuropean (Sean Barron) and lush backing vocals by Italian star of The Voice Alessia Turcato.”

For Peter, Technology For The Youth was the album he always hoped he would make and one that he has poured his entire heart and soul into. Retro-futuristic but undeniably human, Technology For The Youth is electronic pop constructed from the brave ambitions of forward-thinking scientists and politicians and the remembered hopes, dreams, and fascinations of a young Dublin boy.
