about

The release of Circuit3’s Technology For The Youth this July was incredibly well-received by fans of electropop and synthpop. The album was conceived on instruments like Peter’s own Roland Jupiter 4, which he lent to Martyn Ware of HEAVEN 17 for the band’s 2021 performances of the Travelogue and Reproduction albums.

While the album warmly evokes the pre-digital ages of faxes, analogue synths, cathode-ray tubes, and hand-written calculations, Peter was keen to bring the album to as many people as possible by harnessing the advantages offered by the internet. This resulted in a live rendition of the entire album, beamed from his home studio in Dublin to the world last August.

You fine folks can grab Technology for the Youth and it’s two preceding EP’s over on Bandcamp, and as a special Supporters Club exclusive, Peter has taken the live recording and created a special live version of the album which you can also stream and download.

Here’s what he had to say about it.

“Using modern technology and media platforms to bring Technology For The Youth to a ‘live’ audience was a joy and at times a challenge. Livestreaming the performance of the album on Bandcamp with a simultaneous live chatroom certainly brought together a wonderful, worldwide group of music lovers and created some great memories for myself.

“The golden days of The Space Race say individuals combining what was then cutting-edge technology and new ways of working together to create new communities. The live performance of Technology For The Youth echoes that era, using classic synths, vintage clips, and the fruits of The Space Race such as satellites and advances in communication to vividly illustrate the recent past in a very modern setting.

“I hope you enjoy this exclusive live rendition of Technology for the Youth. Leave a comment and tell me what you think.”
